A large part of Coulee Council’s efforts is to serve as a resource for those looking for assistance. We identify critical issues involving individuals and families in recovery and collaborate on making policy recommendations to various governing boards represented. La Crosse County Heroin Task Force
The goal of this effort is to create a self-sustaining coalition or task force of community stakeholders to identify and implement community-based strategies that reduce the public health burden of heroin and other illicit substance use in La Crosse County. Our intention to pilot this initiative is to: Save and protect lives; Reduce illegal and prescription drug substance misuse; Improve overdose interventions; Improve early intervention to treatment and recovery; Provide education to the community about heroin and prescription drugs; and Reduce the burden on the Criminal Justice Programs. http://www.lacrossecounty.org/hTaskForce.asp
La Crosse County Prevention Network
The La Crosse County Prevention Network (LCPN) supports implementation of evidence based strategies to prevent youth alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use by drawing on private, public, and individual resources for the implementation of multiple environmental strategies across multiple sectors. The La Crosse County Prevention Network focuses on two goals:
Goal I: Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, private nonprofit agencies, and Federal, State, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth.
Goal II: Reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, among adults by addressing factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.
