Al-Anon

Al-Anon’s purpose is to help families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking of a relative or friend. Similarly, Alateen is our recovery program for young people. Alateen groups are sponsored by Al-Anon members.  Our program of recovery is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based upon the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts of Service.  The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend.  Al-Anon/Alateen is not affiliated with any other organization or outside entity.  (***This list isn't Coulee Council generated - List is updated as we are given the updates.)

Dual Diagnosis

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Dual diagnosis is a term for when someone experiences a mental illness and a substance abuse problem simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is a very broad category. It can range from someone developing mild depression because of binge drinking, to someone’s symptoms of bipolar disorder becoming more severe when that person abuses heroin during periods of mania. - See more at: http://www.nami.org/Learn-More/Mental-Health-Conditions/Related-Conditions/Dual-Diagnosis#sthash.bWheMQT3.dpuf
